Training on GPS equipment use

A six-day training programme is underway at Ugyen Wangchuck Institute for Conservation and Environment in Bumthang. It trains field forestry staff on carrying out surveys with GPS and its application, prepare maps using simple software (Oziexplorer & Arc GIS), and to perform simple analysis like parameter and area calculation using maps. The programme began on September 5. Similar training will be organized for field staff of the territorial divisions and the park management from September 18.
