Traditional archery for higher secondary schools underway

At the 7th annual national-level traditional archery tournament for the higher secondary schools (HSS) held in Gaselo Higher Secondary School in Wangdue yesterday, Rangjung HSS faced Gaselo HSS. Rangjung HSS won by 2 points, scoring 14 points.

In the other match, Tenzin HSS thrashed Samtse HSS with 24 points.

Today, Gaselo HSS will play against Tenzin HSS in the morning match, while Rangjung HSS will face Kuendrup HSS. In the afternoon match, Kuendrup HSS will play Samtse HSS and Rangjung HSS will play take on Tenzin HSS.

Five schools are participating in the tournament. The teams were selected from the regional level tournament held earlier.

According to the Department of Youth, Culture and Sports (DYCS) of the Ministry of Education, the programme is conducted in order to promote excellence in traditional sports and culture.

The tournament is funded and coordinated by the games and sports division of the DYCS. The tournament ends on January 8.
