Talent Hunt show starts
December 24, 2011The National Talent Hunt (Season 2), yet another reality show, hit the TV screens across the country yesterday.
Organized by Mila Tobgay of Mila Communication, the show has 22 contestants aged between seven and 14. The show will feature only young and talented children in the country. The children will unearth and display their talent in singing and acting (comedy).
The show has Lhamo Dukpa as the judge for rigsar songs, Pema Samdrup for boedra and zhungdra songs and Ulap Leki as the judge for comedy.
According to Mila Tobgay, the show is a platform for the undiscovered young stars in Bhutan.
However, the show will have different themes for every episode with the main theme remaining unchanged.
“I think keeping different themes for different episodes of the show will help create awareness among the public,” said Mila Tobgay.
The show, according to him, will improve children’s self-esteem and encourage them to pursue what they can do best. The contestants will be groomed vigorously during the entire period of the show.
“Also, it will be an opportunity for them to learn about new things besides music, singing and acting,” Mila Tobgay said, emphasizing that the main objective of organizing the show is to keep the young children occupied during their winter vacation and showcase their talents to the public.
“Children need something to do during vacation. Better this than loafing around doing nothing good,” he said.
The show will eliminate four contestants beginning the third week of the contest. After that, two contestants will be eliminated every week until the top five of the show.
The show will be aired on BBS TV live every Thursday and Friday from 3 pm to 6 pm. From January 7, 2012, however, the show will be telecast live every Saturday and Sunday.
The format of the show will not differ much from other reality shows. The judges’ points will account for 50 percent and another 50 percent from SMS votes.
The grand finale of the show will be held on February 19, 2012.

It will be very interesting if there is a way to view the show online for the benefit of the Bhutanese living outside Bhutan and participate in voting for our favorite candidate too.
