Royal Wedding Cup in the quarters

Yesterday, SMD Kanglung United edged past Methidrang United 6-5 in the first quarter-final match of the ongoing Royal Wedding Cup in Rangjung, Trashigang, to book a place in the semis.

Today, Lotus FC will play against Sherubtse.

The tournament has 29 teams from Mongar, Trashiyangtse and Rangjung taking part in the knockout tournament which began on August 22.

The champions will win a cash prize of Nu 100,000 along with the rolling trophy while runners-up will take away a trophy and Nu 50,000.

There will also be individual prizes for the finalists.

Other prizes include fair play, golden ball, golden glove and golden boot.

The football event is organized by Rangjung Higher Secondary School to celebrate the upcoming Royal Wedding as well to raise school fund, promote   the sport and enhance interaction among the people.

The tournament is sponsored by SD Eastern Bhutan Ferro Silicon Pvt. Ltd. in Samdrupjongkhar while individual prizes are sponsored by Sunrise Sports, Thimphu.

The final will be played on September 17.
