Royal Wedding Cup final today

The final of the Royal Wedding Cup will be contested by SMD Kanglung United and Sherubtse College, making it an all-Kanglung team showdown in Rangjung today.

Sherubtse College thrashed Druk Sisi Shing 6-1 in the second semi-final played on September 14 to cement their place in the final.

In the first semi-final on September 13, SMD Kanglung United faced a tough resistance from Yadi Middle Secondary School but they went on to win 2-1 on the final whistle.

The tournament saw 29 teams from Mongar, Trashiyangtse and Rangjung locality taking part in the knockout tournament which began on August 22.

The winners will win a cash prize of Nu 100,000 along with the rolling trophy while runners-up will take away a trophy and Nu 50,000.

Other prizes include fair play, golden ball, golden glove and golden boot award.

The tournament is organized by Rangjung Higher Secondary School to celebrate the upcoming Royal Wedding as well as to raise school fund, promote   the sport and enhance interaction and healthy relationship among people.

The event is sponsored by SD Eastern Bhutan Ferro Silicon Pvt. Ltd. in Samdrupjongkhar while individual prizes are sponsored by Sunrise Sports, Thimphu.

The match will kick-off around 3:30 pm.
