The result of the preliminary examination

The result of the preliminary examination, the first stage of the Bhutan Civil Service Examination (BCSE), will be declared today. Of the 1,856 candidates registered for the examination, 1,686 had appeared the examination on August 28.

A three-member delegation from the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) of India, led by its Chairperson Professor D P Agrawal, arrived in the country on September 8 for a three-day visit as the guests of RCSC.  Today, RCSC and the UPSC will conclude a new MoU on future cooperation between the two commissions.

Following the cabinet decision to shut down Bhutan Lottery, Yeshey Lhendup, director of the Directorate of Lottery will resign from the civil service on September 25. The resignation comes after the cabinet on August 23 said moral responsibility and accountability must be fixed on responsible officials.

The city police of Thimphu on September 6 found a body of a man below the National Housing Development Corporation office. Forensic and crime examination ruled out any foul play. The body is kept at the hospital for identification.

The Paro police on September 5 arrested a 30-year-old man, who had hidden 18 logs of sandalwood outside his house in Lango. The logs were found covered in gunny bags. The police said the suspect was not at home when the police went to arrest him on September 4. He was caught the next day.

The first meeting of the steering committee of the South Asia Forum (SAF) began yesterday in New Delhi, India. The meeting is aimed at enabling greater regional economic integration and people to people contact in the region. A 10-member Bhutanese delegation led by Lyonpo Khandu Wangchuk is attending the meeting.
