Queen’s Cup Basketball tournament to begin coming week

In commemoration of the Royal Wedding, the Queen’s Cup basketball tournament will begin on September 23 at Swimming Pool Complex, Thimphu.

To mark and join in the celebration of the biggest occasion of the year, the event will have basketball tournament as the primary affair but in addition there will be other festivities like food and coffee stalls. It will also include other entertainment facilities catering to all in a carnival sort of merriment during the entire time, said ST, one of the organizers.

The league cum knockout tournament has already received positive response with teams pouring in to register both in male and female categories.

Each team is charged an entry fee of Nu 5,000.

Matches will be played according to Bhutan Basketball Federation rules, and each game will have four quarters, each with 12 minutes of play time.

The event is organized by Clover Management and sponsored by Sonam Sersang Construction.

The last date of registration is September 20.

The finals will be played coinciding with the Royal Wedding.
