Phub Dem (alias Aum Naka), much feared and loved player, in action yesterday

Bhutan Active Ladies, Baso Chhu and Gomo team will clash in the final of the second national women’s khuru tournament tomorrow at changlingmithang, Thimphu.

Yesterday in the last semi-final match, Baso Chhu women knocked out favourites Aum Naka in the penalty round after they were tied one game set each in the standard 25 rounds.

It was in the third penalty round when Aum Naka hit a karey to almost guarantee them a place in the final but the resilient Baso Chhu were not a team to be written off. They equalized in the same round and sealed their place in the final with a bull’s-eye karey.

Namtse Group bowed out after regular 25 rounds after failing to win any game set.

The Yangphel style tournament is organized by TDS organizing committee and sponsored by Bhutan Olympic Committee (BOC).

The tournament began on August 30 with 12 teams.

While we accept the match being played by our women, though a new culture for the modern Bhutan, it is utterly detesting to see them performing “waha, waha, with jumping and turning…”,which is not at all graceful. I wish if those women flock could come up with a change, which is more graceful, slower, and not use those manly words waha, waha..!
