Highlander through to final

In the first semifinal of the ongoing Thimphu Open Football Tournament yesterday, Highlander beat Thimphu United 4-3 on penalty shoot-out to book a place in the final on January 1, 2012.

Throughout the match, the teams were equally matched. As the minutes passed without a goal, frustration built up on both the sides.

Thimphu United kept mounting their pressure on Highlander but most of their attempts were frustratingly wide.

Towards the end of the match, a ray of hope shone on Thimphu United when they got a free kick from just outside the D-area. But they missed the chance.

In the penalty shootout, five players from each team took up the challenge. Two players from Thimphu united missed shot wide.

Today, in the second semifinal, Bhutan Post will face 8Eleven.
