Druk Superstar, another singing show coming soon
February 16, 2011Thimphu: Music lovers in the country will soon be treated to another reality singing show competition called Druk Superstar. The show is expected to begin from April.
Organized by Kencho Wangdi, one of the organizers of Druk Star last year, the show will see competition among the already established and well-known singers.
Kencho Wangdi said that the show will be refreshingly different from the other singing shows and the format, which is still being planned, will also be unique.
But he said that there is a doubt whether the targeted competitors will participate or not because they might fear that their popularity will decrease if they can’t perform well.
“The show is aimed at established singers within the country, and I am expecting popular singers to participate in the competition,” said Kencho Wangdi.
As planned so far, the show will begin with 22 contestants who should sing zhungdra, boedra, and rigsar songs.
The prizes are yet to be decided but the organizer, who is still looking for sponsors, said that the winner will be awarded a car.
The show will be broadcast live on the national television every Saturday and Sunday.

Good, keep copying and imitating the cultures that are foreign to Bhutan so that sooner we get rid of our own and we beocme one like the Indians or the Nepalies. After all, we are already a handfuull of egoists from a small country with not much brain of our own.
Bhutan requries such oppertunity where every one gets chance to showcase thier talent. DRuk Star is one such plateform. But i wonder is it ” DRUK SUPER STAR” or “DRUK SELECTED STAR”. There is no audition, the contestant are selected based on selector’s popularities. I am Very sory for this but this demotivites upcoming singers and composers. Every one must be given equal opertunity at initial state to compete in national level. HOw Can one Say those selected contesttant are super star, when they have been selected without any competition at selection stage.
My Intension was not to hurt or to insult organiser of Druk Super star but to make realise equal oppertunity must be given to all the singers in a country. also our country itself believes in eual justices and opertunities.
It is perfectly said above. Ya equal opertunity must be given to every singers in country. I have not seen the orginiser inviting contestant through media for selection but when known all the contestant have been selected. I dont know how they are selected???? is it based on favouritisim??? is it based on selector’s popularities??? The proper channel must been set for the selection… all the singer must have given equal opertunity…. the selection should not be based on studio recording… it should be based on singer’s ablility to perform on stage…. Sorry but i too feel its not justices to negelect those talents……
Our country needs such opertunity where our singers showcase thier real talent. The Druk Super Star is such a plateform which will provide this to our singers. But some time i wonder Is it a competition among the ” Druk Super Star” or “Druk Selected Star”. there has been no selection amomg singers nor any invitation in media for the selection. When it is announced the contestant have been already selected. We dont know how, when and where they have been selected?? Now question is Is selection based on favouritism??? Is it based on Selector’s popularities?? or organiser wants to say those negelected singers are under rated singers in bhutan. I am Very sorry to say this but my intension is not to hurt organiser nor to insult them. i just want to say equal oppertunity must be given to all the singers in the country. There should be ground selection for every singers to compete in national level. How Can we say those selected singer are Druk Super singer tommorrow when they have been selected based on judging thier song which has been recorded in studio. the selection must be based on stage performance… Once again i apoligies for this with the message do not discourage the upcoming singers and provide equal opertunities to all in a country, which also believes in providing equal oppertunity and justics to its people…..

good idea Mr. Kencho. thanks for keeping weekend engaged all the bhutanses once again. heard show is starting from today. but the question is when i browse BBS TV program, their program is LIVE calling show.
second thing we are shock to hear such show, because without doing any selection, these people are selected. just want to ask weather other good singer they don’t have interest to join this competition or organizer selected based on his favoritism.
if you need vote from the public, the show has to transparency from the beginning.
when i say this i don’t mean that the participant are not good, they are also good. at the same time there are many better then them like Jigme Nidup.
will this three judge will remain same till the end of the show like before???
firstly it’s good luck to have one punch from anchor tshering dorji so kep it up till ur show end mrs kencho wangdi druk super star organizer. How could namgay jigss.minzung lhamo.dechen zam.dechen pem could be super star singer as they only sing rigsar where as zhungdra is nil for every body.so i think super star singer will daifenetly create jokes by singing.so namgay jigss ur already drump by ugyen as u drump senior singer.ur compareless to ugyen better die
I really support what is said by the Jigme G Singye and Sangay Zam. It should be transperancy like it did before. The contestants which are participating in this competation are mostly the Rigsar Singers. We were expecting for Mr. Jigme Nidup, who sings well either rigsar, boedra or Zhungdra. And like Rinchen Namgay, he is never being traced. If the contestants which are being selected now are called “Druk Super Star” or “Druk Selected Star” competators, than what will be the name given to Singer like Jigme Nidup and Rinchen Namgay who sings well and better than one who all are competing the competion?. People are all confused and surprised with selection done for the upcoming Superstar coz the one who has to be in competation is not found. What was the reason behind that: This questions are always struking the mind of Bhutanese peoples. No Justice and equity is found here………. Please justify before the competation is started…..
Show ” Druk Super Star” is like selected stars on the sky. some of this star niether glitters nor moves. just they are happy coz they are stars on the eye of thier selectors.On other hand selectors are happy to see thier favourite stars on the sky. Orginiser are completely blind, they fail to provide equal oppertunity to all the stars and they just opt for many shooting star. But Rem all shooting stars are not real stars.. May be orginiser donot want to take risk, incure expenditure, to find diamond from mining area. Now i could see many deserved stars are vanishing from the universe before they reach to the sky. Some body said “Well come to the world songs, where music has no limit, creativity has no boundry, where mind and souls of every individual on this planet they become one when they hear the music”, But where is the bonding?? where is the justics with music?? here i could find oppertunities are only for those apples which has been grown from the root of either producers, selectors,…………????????
Druksuper star seems to be the best of best to the professional singers but in general it seems to be less support from public ground. i think most of the public are not interested and urged to place vote since they are already professional & rich. So, it would be encouraging & facinating to all the viewers if such chances are given to those new candidates waiting for opportunities and talent exhibition.
Yes it is good idea but I domn’t think its that interesting. We know all the contestants are said to popular, but I don’t see that name relates with their voices and talents. I don’t know how many of you may support me yeah!!! spectators are made interesting not by the sweet voices but by the body gestures little bit. They also do not seem to know the corret version of the songs and need to research themselves if they feel like maintaining there name as it was. Otherwise, when Druk Super Star concludes, some of the singers name and fame would also get closed their door haha….but hope it won’t happen mosh….
hi kencho nice to hear about bhutan supper star but procedure you have done is ammazing,if you are not able to follow “equity and justy” donot destroy others aims and objectives,donot look for your monetary benefits only,try to offer equal oppertunity to all if you are really offering oppertunity.by knowing how to sing rigsar doesnot mean that he/she is supper star. sorry for my comments.
Druk super Star!!! Woeee What a name??? But where is real star??? Some time we wonder how this contestant have been selected?? Many of them they are design for studio not for stage. Some time it feels like when one sings bunch of other fools encourages his team mate by means of dancing or by trying to sing with out any direction or practise. Is it a Dancing competation or singing?? Awarding of points by the judge seems to be unjustics… Many Says Namgay Jigs Group will never be in danger zone since Rigser Judge favours this group, no matter how they sing but reputation of being two popular singers in group will benefit them. But We do appreciate to Mr. Organiser, you are only the one who is really working hard to make the programme entertaining. But infuture take note of abopve for your great success… wish you success ahead.
Well! Druk super star was organized by Kencho Wangdi is only for the entertainment and to showoff their talent infront of the public. if i say honestly, Dechen Pem, Namgay Jigs,………? are not super star becoz they don’t know how to sing Boedra and Zhungdra properly and when i saw them singing Boedra and Zhungdra on every Saturday and Sunday, i feel ashame on them. Not only criticising on two of them but are others also who have same quality while they are singing three different songs. if i can challenge with super star definately i am better than you ok la! please think thousand times when you come and sing on television wether you have a capable to sing three different song. During the annual film fair, Dechen Pem and Namgay Jigs recieved best singer in every year becoz of RIGSAR but when it comes in Boedra and Zhungdra i am very sorry to say that you have to improve a lot inorder to get the title of Druk Super Star.

Its great and a very positive thought of bringing such programe by you in our country.People do enjoy your programe during the weekends.its really excellent and you are doing perfectly.Nevertheless I have some personal thinkings that need to share with you.Firstly about the judges,how did you nominate judges? do they have any certificates as a judge? Are they supper-super stars of our country? Can they sing in such competitions better than the participants? my opinion here is that no one can not become judge until and unless he/she is profissionalised in that particular field. One thing is that Is Tsheten Dorji super singer? I dont think so..he is a great musician. So can he really judge the vocals and standards of all singers.If its instrumental musical competition then i think he can do it.
So you need to look into the nomination/appointment of judges very carefully and thoughtfully al.
hi Druk super star. You have come up with idea for selecting one best singer of the week. thats good. But i i can predect your singer of the week easily.. Its only for those who can perform well in Rigser due to following reason:-
1. Rigser judge Mr. Tshenten Dorji who actually knows only music judges the singer, if he finds singer sings song whose music is composed by him and on top of this if he knows singer personally than he is like giving god, there is no boundry for his marks.
2. Mr. Tsheten Dorji is god father to his singers and therefore few favourite singer befits out of this cause they get not less than 9 points. Hope those contestent will continue thier singing currier always with him in his studio.
3. On other hand Shungdra judge and Beodra Judge is very greedy. May be they dont like the singer who can sings well in shundra and beodra. They dont want them to shine above them. I have never seen them giving more than 9 points. Meaning those best with shongdra and beadra ” PLease giveup hope of being singer of the week”.
Mr. Kencho you got to do some thing with is mesh. Its like rotten potato in a sake, which will ultimately harm your best teast of your program. Best of luck…
Singer contesting to each other to gain one title is like group of cats cheassing one rat. But i could see non of the cats are clever. Its not thier mistake but its the mistake of organiser. right person at right place is main responsible for any organiser or competation. But most of the contestant are not really fit for this competation. I assure you i am better than many. But i didnt get the chance, not because i am looser but due to lake of oppertunity. in such programe what we need is common sense but in Bhutan our organiser’s common sense in not common for all. This is the competation where Richer becomes richer, meaning as we all know any body can become singer if they have money to produce ablum and also similarly Actor/ actresss in our movie. If we have time visit at the remote places in bhutan, there we can see our boys and girls they do have a talent but they lacks the oppertunities. in the process this is the end of thier talent and world. So any one who can collect such bunch of talents to telecast in bhutan are real producer, and one who showcast thier real talent are chanlanger of druk super star……. Given the chance we are ready to chalange with current ramdomly selected stars of bhutan…
Nice work mr. kencho u have initiated till now and u can resume in the future too for the promotion of our cultural values but make sure that u choose right judges in the right place if u do organize in the future too.

u shuld not select the jurges like yeshi wangchuk one who is blufing his life history and wasting ur super star times, he just wast ur time making himself great.
Thanks for bringing up this show, but now I personally thinks that Bhutan Star and Druk star has become nuisance, why not you stop for years say it for 3 years. After that you can go on because no body is interested now. Bhutan star and Druk star are competing for the money, what Druk star organizer do for the winner. I personally advise Mr. Kencho Wangdi to respect the people while commentating. I really sorry if I hurt you all knowingly or unknowingly, but as a matter of fact IT IS TRUE.
