Druk United wins PCAL foundation cup

After a long three-day battle in the final, Druk United won a hard-fought victory over Thimphu United A to clinch the 2010 PCAL Foundation Cup.

In the final of the archery tournament, Thimphu United strode high in the beginning to notch the first game when Druk United reached only 14 points. But Druk United came strong in the second game and reached 25 points when Thimphu United were at 15. The tied game went for the decider.

Thimphu United displayed much needed resilience but they couldn’t contain the Druk United momentum and advances to win the tournament. On the third day, Druk United sealed the match when Thimphu United made only 4 points.

Major Pema Lethro of Druk United was declared the Man of the Series while Captain Sonam Lhagyel from the same team was the Man of the Match in the final. Cencho from team Earthquake bagged the prize for highest dobjey with his five dobjey in 28 rounds.

The tournament was a success, said Kinzang Dorji, the organizer, since it ended without problems and disputes. Penden Cement Authority Limited and organizers are hoping to organize the tournament on a much grander scale in the future.
