Although two is a company and three is a crowd, the consumer should be given more choices in this modern world of IT. With a third party (FDI???), the ever spiraling cost of modern day living will naturally go down, but at the same time, our goverment should give it a serious thought before giving the green signal to an outsider, regardless of the close relation between the two countries

well i think Airtel should be allowed in our country because we know that b-mobile and T-cell aren’t doing a great job.

one thing their charges are very high, with the entry of Airtel in the bhutanese market i think they would wake up B-mobile and T-cell in terms of their services and charges.

After all Airtel is a multinational company so it would definitely give us good services at cheaper rate and would arise the sense of competition in international market..

  3. Laygman on March 6th, 2010 12:18 pm

I think airtel’s entry would do a lot of good for Bhutanese people. A third player and that too a multinational would enable us to have a better choice and better srevices because two as a company isn’t doing much to benefit the general public because even after years of T moblie the services haven’t reach east. Air tel want to get their foothold in Bhutan for reasons other than profit according to its chairman. That is something to look forward to.
We must allow them. The two players will be protesting for sure like the tour operators and the hotel owners when govt. wants to open up but i hope this will happen.

i guess Bhutan should well come Airtel. Most of the Bhutanese students are studing in India,so they are facing problem to talk with their family member’s and friends.
Like me,presently i am a student of jaipur. Most of the time i am missing my parents and feel like talking with them but it’s quite expensive to talked as they are charging 10Rs/-per min.

  5. grandma on March 6th, 2010 11:30 pm

@abag .. its not the call rate u should be concerned…there are many other issues u should be aware of.. its not very right to write it down in here,.. so im just going to say few things,, we already have two companies which are providing us the services. how many more companies do u think its needed to operate in bhutan which doesn’t have even a million people…

  6. abag on March 7th, 2010 11:41 pm

okay i agree with you grand ma but you can’t say that it’s right or wrong to write here it’s just my comment.

and i am not saying that rate is the only factor if you analyse properly there are other factors many may in favor of us or many may not, b-mobile is the major player in the market as compared with T-cell.

i don’t know whether you remember or not when tashi launched their mobile service there were lots of changes in b-mobile services. you could see a sense of competition arising in them so gradually Air tel will also enhance them.
we shouldn’t forget that B-mobile wasn’t providing us a good services until the arise of tashi cell…

  7. Tshoki on March 8th, 2010 1:56 pm

ya……its good if Airtel allowed to our country
and very cheap compare to b-cell and t -cell
i thank full if it allowed to our country.

  8. manoj on March 8th, 2010 3:12 pm

Bhariti Airtel should be welcomed in the kingdom because it will bring many benefits:
firstly, its very beneficial to the people as there will be competition, which means the charges rate will be cheap.
secondly, it ll bring revenue to the governments.
thirdly, the network will be good as Airtel is one of the leading company in India..

  9. sangay on March 8th, 2010 3:33 pm

airtel should come to Bhutan as it has so many advantages to we bhutanese as a whole…..
    1) the B-Mobile whos is charging very high at most part of Bhutan will have to do some thnking if airtel is allowed in Bhutan.
    2) even tashi cell have to go fr sme changes though they are far better than the B-Mobile.
    3) Entering airtel in Bhutan will gve more job opportunity to our youth who are still looking fr the job……….it will help us improve the employment rate.
so with the i am very much YES to Airtel comming to Bhutan.

  10. Tshering on March 8th, 2010 5:49 pm

yeah its nice to hear that our country is welcoming the Airtel services, and am fully hope that it will help our people in every means, like charges, better communication wth outsiders, more economy , better offers..etc….
The charges on B-mobile and T-cell differs from the places…they charge more when the receiver is far away from the caller, but with introduced of Airtel am pretty sure the charges won’t differs with respect to the place…..we all knows india is a big country as compared to Bhutan, the charges whole over the India is at Rs 1/min for STD…….but our B-moible and T-cell charges more than Rs4/min and so on….
More over the Airtel services in India are getting more offers like top up while we can call STD at as low as 0.5 paisa/min and so on….but do our B-mobile and T-cell offers such things..huh….
well i should say that Bhutan should welcome Airtel services…………

thanks for letting us to comments on this..
    hav a gud day guys..

  11. grandma on March 8th, 2010 6:14 pm

@abag.. what you said is true..,,however did you realize what has happened to BNB and BOB when druk-PNB was launched…i see its the part of development.. but have u ever thought of the consequences if airtel overtakes and B-mobile and tashi cell.. im sure it ll if airtel enters bhutan market..
yea it does provide revenue to govt,,, but i think revenue could be less as compared to what existing companies are generating,, (i have a doubt on this though… :) )

im not saying airtel shouldn’t be welcomed… all im saying is it should be welcomed after a decade or so..not now.detailed survey should be done..

oh by the way…. i didn’t mean to say ur views are not right to write in here… i meant my views are not right.. because i think as in politics…

  12. SK on March 9th, 2010 9:42 am

I feel you guys have a beautiful untouched country, like none on this blue planet preserve it from out side influences and keep the link to a minimum, keep it as natural and free of these modern things and you’ll be the luckiest people….. Best of luck…..

I think that the Govt. should allow Airtel to enter the Bhutanese market. the level of services provided as of now by 2 other companies viz. B-mobile and T-mobile is just average. they dont even have good coverage in some part of bhutan. if the Govt. allows these multinational companies to enter bhutanese market, not only will it result in terms of better services, for instances when we call the customer care while having some problem with the services, they hardly respond, let alone solve the problem. Apart from it, it would result in creation of more employment opportunities. the Govt. should plan well and lay down the framework for it thus ensuring that it would benefit not only them but our country as a whole.

  14. text on March 9th, 2010 10:40 am

No! Why drag every foreign investors to our small country and make Bhutan a FISH MARKET. if really a need, allow airliners to drop some flights to ease the flight problems.

  15. jamyang on March 9th, 2010 11:46 am

well i guess the other comment i went through are sensible…. but do you people really think that we need airtel now??? … guys we already have two company.. b-mobile and t cell… i go with you that they arent doing well … but all we need is time nad little more improvement .. which i m sure these two companys are trying their best.. what about economy… are you not concerned about the flow of economy… yes the service may be good with the proposed company but will it be same here in our mountainous country??.. i think we should stick with the present two company for some time before we accept airtel. i guess the two company may also loose market if airtel come in … solely because its cheaper rate… i m not aware how the government might work it out but three is really a crowd and market is not that big in our country right now.. the two guys at home might suffer greatly… save them people… and think .. are we not going to do something on our own .. ????

  16. Jeewan on March 9th, 2010 1:51 pm

The reason behind for being welcoming Airtel service into Bhutan is that the commercial companies, particularly having 100% trade link with different Indain states will enjoy the very facilities. The company will also save little turnover the amount that they are paying with the BTL/TCC. nevertheless it is not that we discontinue our BTL facilities that they are provided since long time before, but to save our company’s turnover…………we feel yes to Airtel.

Well coming air tell to Bhutan means Development in information and communication in bhutan. Air tell one of the oldest world wide net work with latest and advanced technologies will bring the quality communication, information sharing, and which will also lead to futher improvement of existing Networks in Bhutan. Air tell will also bring many benefits to its user, in terms of quality and cost. Well come Air tell to Bhutan

  18. Jigme Nidup on March 9th, 2010 5:36 pm

Well the world is changing rapidly, development takes place. Air Tel a part of FDI is an integral part of global system. Sometimes i happen to wonder why is our country moving so slowly towards development. i do know that bringing up of Air tel will affect B and T mobile but the question is are they really satisfying the needs of the customer. Bhutan is the only country where by the sellers and the producers are the boss not the customers. Satisfaction is never there neither a proper facilities. This will affect the domestic producers but will greatly benefit the customers. If the rest of the companies feels that its not good for them, well i say then better they change in every ways. India, even the poor ppl can afford the cell phone because the call rate is low as well as the internet facilities but unlike in Bhutan its different.

  19. Jigme Nidup on March 9th, 2010 5:53 pm

    Some of the advantage are:

    Advantage #1: Speed

No matter which plan of airtel you use, you are definitely assured speeds, since Airtel commits to 1:1 speeds for all plans upto 256kbps.

    Advantage #2: Other Perks

Did you know that if you are a customer of Airtel, you are eligible for a free copy of McAfee Anti-virus? With free updates and a personal firewall, you are sure to be safe from hackers and other malicious softwares.

    Advantage #3: Free Phone

If you take an internet connection from airtel, you get a phone free with it, with a few or no free calls. Advantage? use it for incoming purposes and you will not be charged a paisa/cent, Ever!

    Advantage #4: Gamer Delights

If you are a avid gamer, Airtel has what you require to quench to play. If you visit the official Airtel Broadband site, you will see a Games On Demand link, use it to register and play unlimited games 24×7 for just Rs. 199 per month. Cheap considering the variety of games you can play and the number of games available.

The last advantage, u can carry the same phone wid the same card no matter u r at India, connect with ur loved ones at lower rate

  20. pema seldon on March 9th, 2010 8:50 pm

Well its not a bad idea about introducing Airtel service to Bhutan. And as everything have its negative side not forgetting the positive ones…i think there are more of negative right now though it can always work out in future.
Forgetting the capital and quite few urban places in Bhutan i have noticed that even the existing b-mobile n tashi cell services are not available due to poor network and not forgetting the loss of network for 3 or 4 days in some places.
So i feel it would be better if we implement the airtel plan into b-mobile and t-cell so that at least the different places of Bhutan can be connected before connecting to the outside world.

  21. kezang jigme on March 10th, 2010 1:52 am

It is good to know that Bhutan is welcoming a multi-national company. It would do much better in terms of call charges between our country and India. Well, the number of Bhutanese students studying in India are increasing rapidly, and it is possible for those students to keep in touch with their parents and loved ones back home. This is regarding my personal view.
From the point of view of our country’s economic development, I think it does not sound good when we discourage our own network service providers and welcome multi-national company like Airtel. Imagine the amount of money that we would be paying to the outside country in a year which actually would make a lot of difference should we spend for B-Mobile or Tashi cell thus enhancing our country’s economic growth.

  22. jigs on March 10th, 2010 9:49 am

i would definitely support in welcoming multi-national company to provide telecommunication services in our country. it can provide a quality services at cheaper rate comparing to the present service providers. moreover, it will increase employment opportunities thereby minimizing unemployment rate. so i welcome Airtel company in Bhutan.

  23. dups on March 11th, 2010 10:01 am

i would like to welcome the the competitors of b-mobile and tashi cell,in order to come down the price and there will be benefit to our society

  24. BATO on March 11th, 2010 10:58 am

T Cell & B Mobile has to do lot of improvement, as of now B mobile is just lacking far from T cell, what ever T cell does B mobile tend to copy, why cant B mobile come up with new idea?…………………….These 2 companies can also minimize the call rate before they losses their customer well if incase Govt welcomes the Airtel. If these things are done b4, i dont think that we ever welcom Airtel coming to Bhutan.

IF THE BOTH THE COMPANIES ARE WORRIED ABOUT COMING OF AIRTEL……….BETTER IMPROVE THE SERVICES BY REDUCING THE CALL RATE AND REMEMBER, ITS USELESS MINIMIZING THE CALL RATE WHEN AIRTEL IS ALREADY ENTERED BHUTAN.

  25. thinker on March 11th, 2010 10:08 pm

hi guys, is it good to have our resources within the country or to let it go out of country????

  26. D.P Bhandari on March 16th, 2010 9:44 am

The customers’ satisfaction over the technological advancement depends on the choice that they have at their disposal. Welcoming Airtel in Bhutan would serve this purpose in meeting their expectations! Either T Cell or B Mobile should reduce thir charges or else Airtel can be welcomed to stand in Bhutan.

  27. jigspokto on March 21st, 2010 9:03 pm

hell…yes we need competition in every sphere which will the lead to excellence in service delivery.
At the same time, our people should become more educated to fight for and enjoy the benefits and not taken for ride.

  28. Phuntsho on April 1st, 2010 12:42 pm

Yes I welcome more competition in the market. This would mean better service for the consumers (myself included), and much more cheaper. The fact that the money will be channeled aross the border, it may play some role in shrinking our economy. Therefore, as oppoed to the surprisingly positive posts (views) above the entry of Airtel is certainly NO in my opinion. Had it been a Bhutanese company, I would have certainly agreed to. Just my thoughts.
