Druk Star in elimination phase

Druk Star, a singing competition show telecast live from Thimphu every weekend, has reached the elimination phase. Two contestants from the top 20 singers in the competition will be eliminated tomorrow and the day after.
The elimination will be based on the number of votes received by the contestants and marks obtained from the judges. Every week, the judges will declare a ‘voice of the week.’ The voice of the week will not be eliminated the following week even if he or she gets the least number of votes. The number of votes will make up 70 percent of the total marks and the remaining 30 percent will be awarded by the judges.
Ten girls and 10 boys have been selected as the top 20 contestants from more than 400 contestants across the country. During the first audition, 76 contestants were selected, in the second 40 and finally 20. The voting lines are open till Sunday morning. The contestants have been singing live on BBS TV every Saturday and Sunday.
Lopoen Yeshey Wangchuk, a popular traditional singer and the zhungdra judge at the competition, said they selected the contestants completely based on the quality of voice. “Lyrics and tunes can be learned,” he said. The 20 contestants are all staying in Thimphu. Some of them live on their own while some are putting up with their relatives.
“The organizers agreed to make arrangements for us but we said we would be better with our relatives,” said Sonam, a contestant from Trashigang.
Every day, the contestants practise from 9:30 am to 5 pm. The contestants are all picked up from their homes and dropped back. The judges come and help the contestants with songs. The organizers have also given back the registration money to the top 20 contestants. Out of the 20 contestants, only two are employed. Others are farmers, school dropouts, students and housewives.
“Given a choice, I would want to become a professional singer,” said Passang Gyalmo from Haa. She is presently doing a computer course in Thimphu. The contestants can sing any song. Kencho Wangdi, one of the organizers, said that getting the contestants choose the right tracks was hard. “They can choose any song but it should not be repeated.
And some of them choose old songs,” he said. The winner will be known as ‘Voice of Bhutan’ and he or she will drive home a Maruti Swift car sponsored by Zimdra. The second and third will win cash prizes. There will also be prizes for the fourth and fifth. They will sign an album contract with the organizers.

Everything is fine with Drukstar except the host Mr. Kencho Wangdi. During the last elliminition round we as viewers are excepting some comments from all three judges for the outgoing canidates but the host could not manage that 30 mins time,,,,,,coz I his pauses in the elliminition round is not neccessary. hope for improvement next time
yea …i agree to what thsering yenchen has stated, ..there should be comments from the judges for the eliminated contestant..but as such there was none, hey…guys you people are doing great but ..now u guys need to improve…a lot …why dont you make out something from other show like indian idol and american idol..they are danm good..
u need to see what the host and judges are doing there…..
Kencho Wandi is misusing the stars,,,,Dorji Penjor is found driving is car in paro with Kencho Wangdi sitted in front. I belive the star are stars….they should be reserved and deal with respect
OOH, now the programme is completely changing, instead of competing among the stars even the gudges are competing among them. We dont see any compettion on the stage, rather some entertainment. The host gives more important on the district live show then the actual one coz he benefits from that side. Please, now its high time to come to the real shows, instead of other private shows because you are watching by the nation.We want to watch the real show.
