Entrepreneurs get fund to start business

Ministry of Labour and Hu­man Resources (MoLHR) completed the first entrepre­neurial skills development training for 63 participants of two batches with the fi­nancial support from UNDP as part of Human Security Project under the Income Generation Start-up Support programme yesterday.

The 29 male and 34 fe­male young entrepreneurs have the proposals to set up businesses in the three high­est poverty incidence dzong­khags of Zhemgang, Mongar and Samtse, and one in Paro with the initial grant of up to Nu 0.6 million from UNDP.

These entrepreneurs will be setting up businesses either individually or in groups.

The grant will differ ac­cordingly to their business proposals.

Businesses includes IT ser­vice and repair centres, bak­eries, poulry farms, tailoring units, construction services, paper packaging, lemon grass extraction unit, automo­bile workshop, weaving cen­tre, restaurants, hardware and electrical services, photo stu­dios, souvenir manufacturing unit, and internet cafes among others.

Labour Minister Dorji Wangdi awarded certificates to the 63 entrepreneurs, among them two best students, one each from a batch – Birkha Bdr. Labar from the first batch and Dhan Kumar Bhujel from the second batch. The certifi­cate of excellence for coopera­tion and sincerity was given to Phuntsho and Karma Rai.

    its a good thing to hear that our govt. is providing an opportunity for youbg entrepreneurs and we hope they make use of it,,,,its a good starting…
    i hope it gets better as we go as i too want to switch to this carreer smt later.
    i hope that our young entrepreneurs will show what they can do and grow,, so as a bhutanese lets all pray that it works fine
