Drukpa demolish Zimdra

After a thrilling match for two days, Drukpa emerged the winner of the 2nd Coronation National Archery Tournament defeating Zimdra on November 3 at the Changlingmithang archery range in Thimphu.
Karma Dorji of Drukpa, who turned the course of match by displaying great skills, was named the man of the match. On the first day of the final, Drukpa were stuck at three points while Zimdra moved ahead to score 16 points. But at the end of the first day, Drukpa strongly came up to snatch the victory when Zimdra were trying to break the 22 point deadlock.
On the second day, Zimdra once again led the score until Karma Dorji hit three dobjis. The choenda (victory point) of the match was a dobji from Sangay Wangchuk of Drukpa. Former minister Kinzang Dorji, the president of Bhutan Archery Federation gave away the prizes.
While the Drukpa took away 21-inch television set each, the runners-up went home with washing machines. Lt. Sonam Lhagyel was awarded the prize for the best archer, Karma Thinley for highest dobji, Kinley Tshering for one day highest karey, Pema Rinzin for bakor dobji and Bela Wangdi for highest bulls’ eye.
Besides the archers, some spectators also walked home with TV sets, washing machines and microwave ovens after a lottery draw.
Sponsored by Tashi Cell, Bhutan Agro Ltd., Bank of Bhutan and Bhutan Post, the the tournament was organised by Bhutan Archery Federation.
