Cosco tennis tournament ends

Jigme Sherab emerged the winner of men’s single in the first nine-day Cosco National Tennis tournament. He defeated Kinley Wangchuk 6/1, 6/1.
In women’s single, Aum Patrizia Tshering defeated Rinzin Lham 6/4 and 6/0 to claim the title. Jigme Sherab also took home the rolling trophy along with the winning trophy.
In the senior singles (above 45) category, Ugyen Wangdi emerged the winner.
Kinley Wanghuk and Sither Tenzin won the lucky mixed doubles, Brigadier (retd.) D.B Chhetri won the gentlemen’s singles (above 55), and Tandin Wanghuk claimed the Under-18 boys title and Rinzin Lham, the under-18 girls’ title.
“I am happy to be the winner of the first national cosco tournament and hope to be the winner next year too. I also would like to advise the young players to work hard and be determined if they want to win,” said Jigme Sherab, who is a trainee at the Royal Institute of Management, Semtokha in Thimphu Education Minister, Lyonpo Thakur Singh Powdyel, gave away the prizes to the winners of all the seven events.
Regional Director of Cosco India Ltd., Biswas, also addressed the gathering on behalf of the sponsors.
The objective of the tournament was to encourage participation from young players and give them a platform to showcase their talents and sportsmanship.
