Bhutanese archers prepare for world championship

Bhutan will take part in the 45th World Outdoor Target Archery championship in Ulsan, Korea, from September 1 to 9.

In preparation, the archery federation has been training 20 girls and 21 boys out of which three girls and three boys will be selected based on their performance to participate in the world championship.

Once selected, the six archers will be trained in Korea from July for a few weeks.

“We have recruited more archers so that we will be selecting the best ones and send them to compete at the international level,” said assistance coach, Tshering Choden.The Archery championship will be held in Ulsan Munsu International Archery Field in Korea.

South Korea is hosting the championship for the second time. In 1985, Seoul hosted the championship.

The federation has nine senior archers, three girls and six boys headed by two assistance coaches and a contract coach from Korea.
