The five-day annual Paro Tshechu will be held from March 30 to April 3 during which all government offices and institutions will remain closed. No stalls or fairs will be allowed at Dheyangkha but handicraft stalls will be allowed at Tshongdue acrchery ground, but no gambling will be permitted.
“In the current year alone, the Office of the Attorney General has received 40 cases of corruption involving 158 individuals”, said The Prime Minister, in his keynote address at the opening of the consultative meeting on National Anti-Corruption Strategic Framework. The meeting ends on March 28.
The country’s three top students of class 12 will be honoured at Hotel Tashi Taj tonight as part of the Career/Education Fair being held in Thimphu this weekend. Around 20 colleges and institutions from India are participating two-day fair at Kelki Higher Secondary School, while L S Consultancy and Publication is also holding a Career Fair at the Swimming Pool.
Bhutan has offered to host its first SAARC summit in March or April 2010 if the Maldives declines to hold it this October. Bhutan has never hosted one.
Today, with the first annual conference of the Election Commission coming to an end, the draft proposal for delimitation and the draft strategy for the Local Government elections will be finalized.
The Labour Ministry will conduct a skills competition from March 25 to 27 at the National Institute of Zorig Chusum and Rigsum Group of Institute in Thimphu. The occupational trades for this year’s competition will be in Lhadri and computer and hardware servicing. Cash prizes of Nu 15,000, Nu 12,000 and Nu 9,000 will be given to the top three participants and Nu.5,000 each for the 4th and 5 th positions as consolation prizes.
