All for love of acting

When fresh graduates in the country are busy preparing for the Civil Service Common Examinations, Tandin Bidha, a university graduate from India, is busy acting for her movie Ya Ma So.
S he made her acting debut when she was 18 years old and fresh out of high school. Then, it was just a means to earn a little extra pocket money.
Now 21, her part-time job has become her passion.
“People are skeptic when I tell them I want to continue acting. They think being a civil servant is a better option. I beg to differ, I believe in doing what I am passionate about. Civil service is not the best or the first option for me,” she said.
Brought up in Paro, she graduated this year from Indian Academy Degree College in Bangalore with a bachelor’s degree in business management. In college, she had done a lot of “small modeling”. Before joining college, she acted in the movie Home Sweet Home. “When I was in college, I got many movie offers but I couldn’t take them up as I wanted to complete my studies,” she said.
However, as soon as she graduated, she landed up doing a role in the movie, The Four Friends, which will be released this November. “It’s more like Desperate Housewives,” she said comparing her movie to the hit American series. “It is about four friends, their lives and how they are there for each other through the hardest and the best of times,” she added.
I t’s a common knowledge that many people label a career in movie industry as a “frivolous time pass”. That, however, is not reflected in Tandin’s attitude. She said she would like to try out acting for the next two more years. “I am passionate about acting and if it works out, I wouldn’t mind being called an actor all my life,” said the bubbly actress.
People in the movie industry believe in her potentials. “She is much better and has more to offer than many actors we have around here,” said Talop Wangchuk, who worked with her in her debut movie as well as offered her a special role in his previous directorial venture Ha Go Na May. He is also the director of her next movie, Ya Ma So.
S he already has a fan following. “The movie Home sweet Home, wasn’t that good but her acting was. She is photogenic and natural,” said Kinzang, a Bhutanese movie bug.
S he is a young, talented and beautiful actress to look out for in the future, said Talop Wangchuk.
