ANOTHER HOME: A book review

A nother Home, a collection of short stories and poems, is the latest book by a Bhutanese author to hit the book stores in Thimphu.
Written by Leki Wangpo, a 2008 graduate from Sherubtse College, the book contains seven short stories and 30 poems. The book is written in simple English and most of the stories and poems are based on the author’s personal observations.
The stories and poems are based on love, compassion, patriotism, frustration, romance, innocence, betrayal, impermanence, ambitions and success.
The author has dedicated the book to his late father. The title story, Another Home, is about his father and his love for him. It is the story of his family and how his father expired leaving behind his home which now seems like another home.
The 86-page book is worth Nu 150 and is available in book stores in Thimphu.
The 25-year-old author started writing since he was in class VII. He said it was a dream come true to have his book published. It took him three years to complete the book.
He said that by publishing his book he wanted to encourage young writers to continue writing and share their works with others. Leki Wangpo will be writing a novella next.
