Dasho Karma Ura resigns
3 July 2009
His Majesty approved resignation of Dasho Karma Ura as a National Council member on kidu grounds following which he informed the Chairperson of the National Council on July 1.
Dasho said that he had to resign owing to occasional health disruptions.
“I would like to direct my efforts where there is space and it is more beneficial,” Dasho Karma Ura said, adding that he was grateful for the kidu resignation he had received from the Druk Gyalpo.
He said that, at a certain stage in life, it was crucial to decide on the people with whom one worked and to devote time to things one considered important. “I like to contribute as much as I can; time has become very precious,” he said.
National Council member from Trashigang, Sonam Kinga, said the council would miss a distinguished and accomplished member. He added that his resignation would, however, not diminish his own contributions to our society.
NC Chairperson Namgye Penjore said a new Deputy Chairperson would be elected.
According to the National Council Act of Bhutan, any person holding a seat in the National Council may resign through a declaration made in writing under the hand and seal of that person before two witnesses. Such a declaration shall be addressed and delivered to the Chairperson either during a session or an interval between two sessions of the National Council.
Regarding Dasho Karma Ura’s resignation, Bhutan Broadcasting Service had reported, “Dasho Karma Ura cited difficulties in following the proceedings of the parliament as one of the reasons for resigning.” Dasho said that reason was far-fetched. “I have never said nor thought it that way. To be appointed to such a body was a distinctive honour,” he said.
Dasho Karma Ura was nominated by His Majesty the King to the National Council along with four others on March 30, 2008.

Why is he so proud showing the thing on his hand….
Karma Ura you have done batter in one way by resigning. You are a person who could contribute lot to the nation by other profession. I would respect you as a historian than politician. I knew you would failed by joining the politics. Indeed! You would have been sincere in the beginning by rejecting the offer. Any how I appreciated for not being selfish in the end. Fact is that you should not have hold double post/office if you ever thought of vibrant democracy and equity. Country has infinite capable scholar, some are better than you do but the lack of baking and opportunity force to stay back.
