Lovelorn youth commits suicide

30 January 2009

Madan Kumar Rai, 21, hanged himself from a suspension bridge at Namseyling at 6.00 pm on January 26.

On that day, Madan went to Namseyling to meet his girlfriend, 17-year-old Dil Maya Subba. They had been seeing each other for the last six months.

According to Dil Maya, Madan had asked her if she would marry him and elope with him to Nepal. She had answered by saying that she was too young and would consider marriage only after a period of three years.

Madan had been acting temperamental and weird, Dil Maya later said. He even cut his wrist with a blade in response to his proposal.

As things cooled down, he left her place saying he would return home.Upon reaching the suspension bridge, he proceeded to hang himself.

“I never knew he would commit suicide. He told me that he was going home,” said Dil Maya, evidently shocked after learning about the suicide.

The parents of the girl are worried about their daughter. “I wasn’t aware of the relationship between my daughter and Madan. This whole incident might have a very negative effect on our daughter. We are worried that she might commit suicide as well,” said Purna Bdr. Subba, the father of the girl.

“If the boy had come with his parents and asked for my daughter’s hand in marriage, I would have consented to it. A life need not have been lost,” he said.

According to the police, there was no foul play involved. Madan worked in a hotel in Thimphu.

it’s just the nature of the world that…if we involve in anything wholly and we dont get that we deserve may ends tragically. it’s good coz early to death early to reborn keeping in mind the concept of rebirth.

I feel sorry to see Madan die himself by being very silly and I am sure that he MUST have seen lot of cheap Hindi movies that influences lot of younger generations in our country where India has lot of influences in politic, economy, diplomacy, culture, religion and often leads to negative impact really!

i wish our GOVT can also ban cheap hindi movies like they do in other South Asian nations for strict moral code and bad influence!

Tahis Delek and Cherio and SORRY Madan, you are wrong to do that and for all younger generations dont get influenced with lot of violence in Bad Bollywood mocies OK

Being a boy we should b strong enough to face any problems. It was only the problem that can b solve easily but there r many problems that we cant solve. So in this case we all have to sucide? No i think sucide is not a good answer . So never try to do such things coz ur one mistake will lead sorrows to ur beloved ones.
