Women’s Battle in Bangkok

The Bhutanese under 19 Women’s cricket team left for Bangkok on Wednesday to play in the first international tournament.

The Cricket Association of Thailand is hosting the inaugural tournament which runs from December 13 to 23. The 14 Bhutanese players are high school students from different schools. They are accompanied by their coach, Mr. Damber Singh Gurung, the Manager, Ms. Deki Yangzom, and a Physiotherapist.

There are 12 teams competing in the ACC U-19 Women’s Championship 2008. UAE, Hong Kong, Qatar, Iran, Oman and Thailand are in Group A. Bhutan, Malaysia, Singapore, Kuwait, Nepal and China are in Group B.

The Bhutanese team plays Singapore on December 13 and Nepal on the 14th. Bhutan plays Malaysia on December 16 and China on December 17. Bhutan plays against Kuwait on December 20.

The matches, consisting of 25 overs only, will be played at two grounds, Gymkhana Club and Prem Oval. Each venue will host two games a day. The semi final is scheduled on December 22 and the Grand Final on December 23rd.

    Is it enough for media just to inform general public that one will go or went here and there and not give us other updates?

    What about this criket team to Thailand? Are they alive or dead? Are they playing or else…. Don’t you feel little concern to give update????
