Just wanted to share my view that the way this statement is phrased makes it difficult to vote on the issue, given the options of “agree, don’t agree, and don’t know”. For instance, i agree that urban areas have grown messily but don’t fully agree that managing solid waste in Thimphu has become an overwhelming task … i think polls in general need to avoid multiple points in a single statement in order to avoid inaccurate representation of of views.
I have voted for a firm no. A few Bhutanese computer savy people who has excess to this kind of votes seem to distort all the facts as they are invariably sceptical even when they are not.
TCC is well on the right track and the waste is firmly under control, while it is true that the sinful and dirty Bhutanese living in Thimphu abuse their privilege of living in such a beautiful capital city by doing their best to litter the city.
If the TCC’s mission of keeping Thimphu clean and green fails, TCC certainly sholuld not be blamed for doing the best from their side. Only the pig-like Bhutanese in Thimphu who have no taste for a clean environment are to be solely held responsible.
With the Anti-Littering Act, I feel the TCC should now be very strict and impose heavy fines left and right. Even my ever so dirty and dingy nighbours cleaned up their horribly dirty surroundings once they heard that the inspecters from the TCC will inspect and impose fines.
Now people are once more relaxed and openly remarking,” Naba Drang gay Sey tse Dro Mingo” as they never saw these inspectors. Yes in terms of this envisaged inspection, TCC miserably failed to keep their promise.
Even being as a citizen i believe that the urban areas are getting really messy. but it is not at all that our Govt. has not been doing anything. Our Govt is doing the best they can but only a Govt doing something is impossible to achieveit. It is the people and the peoples ways of living that the beautiful areas of our cities are now like that of a dust-bin. I also like to say that comparing to our nabouring country our side is much more better but dont you think that if we dont care about it right now because our area is already like a dust-bin and it will not take too much time to one day see our area to be like a decomposing pit. After all how many inspectors will tell how many house holds, how many education on cleanliness and a happy envirnoment will they give. TCC may appoint a hundread and one inspectors but if the people does not cooperate with the government. ”BUT YES THEY REALLY DID FAILED TO KEEP THEIR VERY BIG PROMISE TO – INSPECT AND SO ON.”
