The grand finale of Druki Sungki Dendur

The grand finale of Druki Sungki Dendur, will begin on December 19 at the CICCC ground in Thimphu. The contest will be a three-day programme with three different rounds of zhungdra, boedra and rigsar.
At a meeting in Poland, many poor nations have complained about delays in accessing cash from the Least Developed Countries Fund (LDCF), a fund to help the poorest countries to implement urgent projects to adapt to climate change. So far, only one such project has started in Bhutan which aims to reduce risks of glacial lakes overflow as rising temperatures melt ice.
The three-day Bhutan folk festival in Punakha that starts tomorrow will, for the first time, highlight the daily activities of the Bhutanese rather than just mask dances. It is designed as an attractive off-season package for tour operators.
With the recent price fall in vehicles of Indian make, Bhutanese vehicle dealers are also expecting a fluctuation in Indian vehicle prices in the Bhutanese market. Officials of the STCBL said that they have had verbal information from the Principal that the prices will fluctuate.
A Golden Voice programme will be held today in Thimphu with singers from yesteryears paying tribute to the Monarchs. Among the participants are Dasho Kinley Dorji, Drangpon Shera, Dasho Ugyen Nima, John Michael Chiramal and Tshewang Jurmin.
The CICCC has extended the Centenary Celebrations till December 31 as the authorities feel that the year should end with celebration and be marked as a one-time moment in Bhutanese history.
