His Majesty is back in the capital

His Majesty the King is back in the capital after a 10-day tour to the central and eastern Dzongkhags. Their Royal Highnesses the Princesses Ashi Sonam Dechan Wangchuck and Ashi Dechen Yangzom Wangchuck accompanied His Majesty during the royal tour. His Majesty visited places in Punakha, Trongsa, Bumthang, Mongar and Lhuentse.

Her Majesty the Queen, Ashi Dorji Wangmo Wangchuck, inaugurated the Gaeddug College of Business Studies on October 14. The Health Minister Lyonpo Zangley Dukpa and other senior officials were present during the ceremony. The Gaeddug College of Business Studies is spread over nearly 290 acres and was built at a cost of Nu 750 million. The college has 525 students and classes began in July this year. The college offers bachelors degree courses in business studies.

Bhutan joined 70 other countries across five continents to observe the Global Hand Washing Day on October 15. The day was observed at the Loseling Lower Secondary School in Changjiji, Thimphu. The resident representative of UNICEF, students, teachers and officials from the Health and Education Ministry took part in it. This year, the day focused on children and schools.

Chhukha Dzong is expected to be complete before the deadline. The new dzong is scheduled to be complete by the end of next year. Chhukha could have a dzong as early as 2010, a year before the scheduled date of completion.
