Sungkay Dendur: teary exit for two more
31 October 2008
Wednesday was a yet another fateful day for the contestants of the Drukgi Sungkay Dendur. The two youngest contestants of the show, Kinley Wangmo, 15, and Tshering Phuntsho, 16, had to face a tearful exit.
Now the contest is left with five top singers, four men and a woman. Karma Phuntsho from Trashigang, favourite of most viewers, Rinzin Wangchuk from Samtse, Tshering Namgye from Wangdue, and Sonam Yangden from Trashigang still stand a chance to be the country’s first singing star.
Before the show, all the contestants looked cool and cracked jokes amongst themselves. Although some of them said they were a little nervous, they looked confident. The two-hour show broadcast live by the BBS was riveting, said the viewers.
The organisers have not confirmed the next date for elimination. “The competition is going to be tougher now,” said Nguldrub Dorjiks, the man behind the show. He said that in order to make the competition interesting there will be different rounds like slow round, where the contestants will sing slow songs, and dance numbers.
“That way the individual quality of the contestants will be known to the viewers,” said Nguldrub. Meanwhile the voting lines for the contestants are still open.

Does Bhutan telecom fund the show? Or Tashi Cell too? It is good business for them too and they should be…
