Singye Quarry case in ACC and other stories

His Holiness the Je Khenpo is in Haa conducting a week-long Menlam Chenmo, which began on August 27 at Lhakhang Karpo. On September 1, the Tangra Goenpoi Tongtsho will be performed and the next day, His Holiness will consecrate the Thongdrol of Lam Drakpa Jamtsho. This is the eighth Moenlam Chenmo conducted in Haa.

The case of Singye Quarry and Crushing Plant at Gidakom has been forwarded to the ACC. This was decided during the 15th session of the Lhengye Zhungtsog session held on August 26. Dasho Sherub Tenzin, Cabinet Secretary, said that government found that there were lapses in several areas. However, he said that no time frame was given to ACC to complete the investigation.

The Zorig Chusum will soon have a proper Tshemdru or embroidery curriculum. Until now the institutes have been following the traditional way of passing down the skills. Experts gathered at the Vocational Training Institute in Khuruthang to develop a new curriculum for Tshemdru. The new curriculum will be in Dzongkha. It’s expected to help improve the quality of craftsmanship and meet the demand and supply of skills.

A s proposed by the MoA, the government approved the construction of vehicle tyre disinfectant dips at all major entry points to the country as an effective measure against the avian flu virus and other communicable diseases without disturbing vehicular traffic.

The Thimphu-Phuentsholing highway will remain closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. This was decided by the MoWHS, RSTA and DoR to allow the road widening work to progress uninterrupted.

The board member for Bhutan National Commission for UNESCO is being reconstituted. The eight member commission will be chaired by the Education Minister, Lyonpo Thakur Singh Powdyel.
