  1. Sangay Dorjee on March 24th, 2008 9:05 pm

The result of the NA is as per my expectations and i am happy with the right decision the people have taken on this dicisive action of democracy at this very stage.
So, let’s hope that the promises that the Politicians have made to the innocent people to win the election, are turned to reality..
I hope that the DPT party will lead us the right direction intimes to come

  2. Pem Dhendup on March 24th, 2008 9:25 pm

I am also one of the most happiest Bhutanese today on the result of NA elections. I wish all the winners in particular and the Party in general my heartiest Tashi Delek on the landslide victory.

  3. Dechen Jigme Tshering on March 24th, 2008 9:40 pm

I am totally blissed by the outcomes of the first ever historic elections in Bhutan. Bhutan’s first election is a QUALITY one. DPT three cheers!!!

  4. Jigme Tenzin, Dehradun on March 24th, 2008 9:52 pm

I should say that I am happy at this moment, not that which party have won or lost, but because of the fact that the elections have been completed without any problem, the credit goes to all those who have worked really hard to make this election a success.
Now, the elections are over, the people have made thier choice, I truely hope that the Elected party assisted by the Opposition party will steer our Country to the higher heights in attaining the concept of Gross National Happiness, fulfilling the vision of our Beloved His Majesty the King.
Long Live Our Country, The Last Shangrila.

  5. Jigme Tenzin on March 24th, 2008 10:03 pm

Though we were very far from our homeland where the election were taking place, we were equally concerned for what was happening and at this moment I m happy not because of the fact that DPT have won or PDP have lost but because of the fact that the election went well, successfully, I salute to all those involved in making this historic moment a success.
Now I hope that DPT assisted by the PDP will take steer our Nation to newer heights were people’s voices are heard, where developmental are peole centric, ultimately achieving our Beloved His Majesty, the Fourth King’s vision of Gross National Happiness.

  6. Jigme Tenzin on March 24th, 2008 10:20 pm

Congratulations to the Winning Party. I am very much happy not because of the fact that DPT have won but because of the fact that the elections been conducted without any problems, I salute to all those involved in making this historic moment a success.
The People have made thier choice and with full faith they have chosen DPT as thier new Government, I truely hope that DPT will take our Nation to newer heights were the Developmental are people centric, fulfilling the King’s vision of Gross National Happiness.

  7. kinzang on March 24th, 2008 11:30 pm

DPT as I would say followed the principle of “simple living , high thinking” and thats the reason why it was elected as the country’s first ruling party.
The people of Bhutan has taken the right decision…

  8. Phanchung on March 25th, 2008 4:00 am

DPT as expected has won to establish our first democratic government. However the landslide victory might weaken the parliament with just 3 opposition members. Tashi Delek to all individual and we have all trust on you.

  9. Dorji on March 25th, 2008 5:05 am

Three Cheers to the DPT. But they are not winning the elections, instead they are carrying forward the wishes of His Majesty the Kings and the faith placed in them by the people of Bhutan. With just three in the opposition, there may be a weak parliament.

DPT have a dream, so I hope they fulfil it.

  10. Dorji Wangchuk on March 25th, 2008 5:21 am

Three Cheers to Druk Phuensum Tshogpa, who won the first parliamentary elections by landlside majority. I am optismitic that people of Bhutan voted for far sighted leaders not politicians. DPT has huge mandate and responsibilites ahead, i.e. to fulfil the dreams and aspirations of His Majesty the King and faith placed upon the party by the people of Bhutan. With just three members in the opposition, the parliament may look weak with no opposition of whatsoever. Nevertheless, as envisioned by the His Majesty the King, the duty of the opposition is to support the government, not oppose it, hence it shouldn’t be a problem.
    Looking ahead for Good Governance.

  11. Leeduk on March 25th, 2008 12:11 pm

Congratulations to winning party!!! Now it is time to work and put in place the promises made to the electrorates. Winning party must not take advantage of lack of opposition in the parliament. Democracy must win despite weak opposition.

  12. Jangchuk on March 25th, 2008 12:24 pm

Bhutan can breathe a sigh of relief that the first ever general elections for the members of the Parliament completed without any hitch. It is one of significant outcomes of the Gift of His Majesty the Fourth King. So far it has gone Bhutan’s ways and wishes of the Bhutanase. Therefore, the future undoubtedly looks promising and blissful for the Last Shangrila and its people as evisioned by the Monarch of the People. Long live His Majesties and the Royal Family. Cheers to those involve in elections and the winners and of course all participants.

  13. Nidup Dorji on March 25th, 2008 12:24 pm

Kudos to DPT and sympathies to PDP. While the decision of the electorate has been resounding and unanimous, I am afraid that the Opposition is going to be too weak. We can only trust and hope DPT does not steamroll the Opposition but take them along as a constructive foe.

  14. Drukp on March 25th, 2008 12:41 pm

At last PDP supporters are now became speechless. I was barking till date and now we saw the result. DPT did it as we expected always. Thanks to our ECB, Media and our HM for conducting a smooth election and showing the examplery work in the eyes of many foreign countries. Even in my college these Indian guys are very my satisfied with the way our leaders have done it for the election. Thanks a lot. and your worked will be remembered always as a principle for our future.

  15. dorji on March 25th, 2008 1:02 pm

congras!!!!!!!!! DPT best of luck for the future outcomes and goals.

  16. Damchu Gyeltshen on March 25th, 2008 1:08 pm

Although I expected DPT to win, I had atleast hoped that PDP would secure about 20 seats. Anyways, Kudos to DPT. In my personal opinion, the Bhutanese people has a lot of confidence in the president of DPT.

However, now is the time for DPT members to put in motion the means to realise the hopes and aspirations of the Bhutanese poeple. The outcome of the vote only means that DPT has been chosen this time around to serve the people in the way they promised they would. DPT as the fist democratically elected government has an enormous responsibility to bear. The biggest responsibility being to work harder than ever to deliver the aspirations of our Kings and the Bhutanese poeple. Failure to do so might have a negative impact on the confidence of the people on the system of democracy as a whole.

    Tashi Delek !!!

  17. tashi tshering,srilaka. on March 25th, 2008 1:33 pm

Three cheers to Druk Phuensum Tshogpa,..TASHI DELEK!!!
As always expected the party has won,and with no doubt to
bear the party will carry the wishes of our kings to serve The
people and The country, guided by novel gem the Gross
    National Happiness!!!…congratualation!!!

  18. Tandin wangdi on March 25th, 2008 1:34 pm

The elections are over, made thier choice without any problem. We people of Bhutan are blissed.Tashi Delek Bhutan.

  19. MrKHANS on March 25th, 2008 5:54 pm

I have been wondering if people voted true to their hearts. If yes, the biggest capabilities are ignored and voted for a much pessimistic party. I m not a PDP supporter but I thought PDP has some better candidates too who is more capable than some DPT candidates. It is a wishful thinking that people are voting for only voting because of one person ……….

  20. Dendup Penjor on March 25th, 2008 6:14 pm

Very sure that DPT will win the NA. It came true. I am confident that new parliament democracy will change the new govt. policy and management. Pelden drukpa gailo, gailo, gailo

  21. tenxinna on March 25th, 2008 7:16 pm

let our country reach to the new height under DPT and let there be equity and justice in our society. so, congratulation DPT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  22. T.Rabgye on March 25th, 2008 8:05 pm

“Tashi Delek” to the glorious DPT. We look forward to continued peace and prosperity under the able guidance of His Excellecy Lyonpo Jigme Thinley and the team of professionals. The country looks up to DPT for a successful years ahead. Long live the “Kings”, long live the “Pelden Drukpa” and long live the “Druk Phuensum Tshogpa”.

  23. Kumola on March 25th, 2008 8:09 pm

    Guys,

I am not happy with the result because there is no strong opposition without which things will be handled unilaterally with sheer monopoly. This also reflects on how much gullible are our rural folks. I am certain some level of character slaying must have been done to almost everywhere which is completely unfair. For instance, when the people of Tongznhang refused to even show up at the meeting organized by PDP, it was an utterly disconcerting development indicating some follies on the part of DPT. Guys, bask you asses in the delight of the DPT’s landslide victory. I won’t be surprised to see people yearning under the tyranny of monotonous and iron handed decisions of DPT in the years to come.

    Good luck

  24. leki chedup on March 25th, 2008 8:35 pm

The victory of DPT over PDp in such a huge margin leaves me to think that the honesty is the best policy. Peoplle of Bhutan have always and will always be upto any challenge. I truly sympathise with PDp, but cannot help.

  25. sonam dorji(Kolkata student) on March 25th, 2008 8:36 pm

i am very happy that DPT reached to their destination, what i expected.Even the individuals members of the DPT shown ther gratitute to the our country while visiting to the village to village. Now what i mean to say is “BIG CONGRATULATION TO OUR PRESIDENT JIGME Y THINLEY AND MEMBERS OF DPT”
“NOW THE BHUTAN IS ON EQUITY AND JUSTICS”
    “TASHIDELEY”
    ******************************

  26. Wangpo Penjore on March 25th, 2008 10:07 pm

Election was good, and we people of Bhutan as voters are looking forward to days when DPT will work hard and walk their talks.

    Congratualation to winner!

  27. bhutaneseblogger on March 25th, 2008 10:50 pm

” If the parties work together as promised, we need no opposition” – read the blog at http://bhutaneseblogger.blogspot.com/

  28. NATIONALIST on March 25th, 2008 11:08 pm

The results were surprising actually i should say one-sided and there was a landslide………….. I am sure people didnt expect such a result.
Anyways to PDP they did well on their part. Well There is always the second chance

and DPT tashi Delek and hope you all would serve the Tsa Wa SUm in the fullest.

  29. Sonam Dorji on March 25th, 2008 11:54 pm

Tashi Delek to the winning party DPT. Congratulation to our President JIGME Y THINLEY and Members of DPT. I respect to all those involved in making this historic moment success.
    Tashi Delek.

  30. soenome on March 26th, 2008 3:04 am

i am not shocked, i knew our rural folks love to live in poverty, civil servants love to whisper las so la and bow. this i say is the concerted blunder in the history of bhutan. ‘fear tactics’ especially deployed by the dictators work well in bhutan. dpt will have 100% in next election because they will be mastering the fear techiques in 5 long years. ayee bhutanese people are deprived of mental freedom by fear, they fear to go by cognitive judgement and make right decision. we are not psychologically independent individuals, i am sad, more so for the poor hard working people of rural bhutan

  31. Thinley Penjore, Nairobi, Kenya on March 26th, 2008 3:09 am

I would like to applaud the ECB of Bhutan for successfully implementing the first historic election of Bhutan so smoothly. Not in the history of election will we find such a smooth process.

I would like to also congratulate the DPT president for the fair and great job that he has done in educating the voters and ultimately coming up as a wining party. Honesty is the best policy, and therefore if you are honest you are sure to win, and that does very much applies to the approach of DPT has followed right from the beginining.

At the same time, I regret that many talented candidates from the PDP had to lose the election despite of the hard work that they have put in for campaigning and the committements that they have to serve the nation.

Through this forum, I would also like send my heartiest congratulations to those I know personally. They are Gyem Dorji, Lhatu, Choki Wangmo, Sonam Penjore, Choida Jamtsho, Durga Prasad Chettri, Tshering Topgay, Tshering Tenzin and Prem Gurung. I wish them all the good luck in carrying out their noble job in fulfilling the wishes of our Majesties.

    Tashi Delek

  32. Namgay Wangyel on March 26th, 2008 9:13 am

Our heariest congratulations to the president and candidates of the DPT. In the end, it seems the approach that you took did matter and the results were, even to each one of you, quite unexpected.
We welcome you back to Thimphu and hope to see a team of professional cabinet members to lead the country forward.

  33. K Wangdi on March 26th, 2008 10:25 am

Wow! a lanslide victory for DPT. That was unexpected. Anyway, let me congratulate DPT and its president for being able to win the hearts of the Bhutanese people. Now all I can say is I hope that DPT will fulfill the people’s aspirations. Tashi Delek

  34. kunzang on March 26th, 2008 10:50 am

Tashi Delek to DPT and its hard-working members.
We have full faith that DPT will try and uphold its promises to build our nation according to the visions and hopes of the king and people of Bhutan. It will not be easy job as the first ever elected government . It would have been nice to have a stronger opposition but –
My best wishes to the newly formed government

  37. Jigme Palden on March 26th, 2008 1:15 pm

I am pleased that the results of the election went the way that many people wanted. It was my dream and it has come true. I am glad that the right party has come to the power and 70 percent of the credit all goes to the president while 10 goes to the candidates and another 10 goes to the educated lots and the last ten goes to the image of the other party.

Comgratulation DPT and remember to deliver your promises.

  38. Kinzang on March 26th, 2008 10:13 pm
