Sir Wang Drugay is a Dzongkha feature film based on legendary and the much loved character, Ap Wang Drugay, the notorious fraudster of Wang, Thimphu.

The film by Tshering Wangyal attempts to move away from the usual love story.

Set in the present-day Bhutan, Tshering Phuntsho plays Ap Wang Drugay, who, when faced with trials and turbulences in life, resorts to skillful ways of deception and swindling.

The actor impressively plays incognito games in various avatars to keep his game going.

Sir Wang Drugay is about redemption and dwells much on the need to lead a noble and honest way of living. No matter how much one backslid or commit mistakes in life, there is always the hope for redemption and forgiveness for one to change for the better.

In the end the protagonist reforms from his wayward ways. He is tested yet again but doesn’t route back to his old habits. Wang Drugay is no more a swindler and trickster. He is a good man from Wang.

The film boasts of experienced troupe with exception of the female lead actor, Sanga Choden, and Namgay Jigs in his debut role in the film.

The film also stars Phub Thinley, Gyem Tshering and Azha Namgay doing their spurious rounds of comedy.

The narrative is linked with beautiful and fitting songs by Namgay Jigs, Ugyen Panday and Minzung Lhamo. Ya Nam Lay Karma, a song in the film by Ugyen Panday is already on the lips of the movie goers.

The film is produced by the Final Touch Productions.

It is screened once during weekdays at 6:30 pm at Trowa Theatre and twice on the weekends from 2 pm.
